Save the Jalak Bali

Posted under: Travel

A team from Hard Rock Café, supported by sponsors such as Oakley and media partners including The Beat, headed to West Bali National Park on Tuesday April 10 to initiate a new program “Save the Jalak Bali.”

The program aims to raise funds to conserve the rare Bali Starling (Leucopsar Rothschildi) or Jalak. The outing included the planting of two tree species – Intaran (Azadirachta Indica) and Bekul (Zyzyphus Mauritiana) both of which are key food sources for the Bali starling. A park ranger also explained the bird’s breeding habits and how it is adapting to human impacts on its environment. “We have around 120 species of Jalak Bali in the conservation,” he explained.

Hard Rock Café will hold a special charity concert for the environment (date and performers are yet to be announced) with associated merchandise. All profits will go towards continuing conservation efforts for the Jalak Bali and its habitat.
